The original track used remarks from Muhammad Ali for lyrics: “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The hands can’t hit what the eyes can’t see.” A joyful recital of Ali’s words by Spinifex was remixed by Cola Boyy, aka Matthew Urango, a disabled music artist and producer. Another cast member, the blind Juilliard-trained jazz pianist Matthew Whitaker, improvised on top of the track.
The video was released ahead of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
“Beautiful Life,” a haunting track from U.K. artist Michael Kiwanuka, was featured in a video from production company Smuggler and directed by Phillip Youmans. The video depicts teens playing a game of Russian roulette at a party, each seeing their lives pass before their eyes before a tragic conclusion punctuates a cautionary tale about access to guns.
“Beautiful Life” was also featured on the Netflix documentary “Convergence: Courage In A Crisis,” which chronicled the global fight against the coronavirus.
