Wingstop names 72andSunny as lead creative agency

Leo Burnett’s work for Wingstop’s “Thighstop” campaign was awarded the Grand Prix for Creative Commerce at Cannes Lions last year. The campaign responded to a national chicken wing shortage in the U.S. with a fun and engaging virtual rebrand. In September, the creators of the “Thighstop” campaign, Matt McNulty and Ben Pfutzenreuter, departed Leo Burnett for OKRP, where they work on Burger King’s advertising.

Wingstop’s business continues to grow. Wingstop’s 2022 systemwide sales jumped 16.8% to $2.7 billion and its U.S. same-store sales rose 3.4%, the company reported in February.

Wingstop, which operates more than 1,950 restaurants globally, spent over $123 million on advertising expenses in 2022, an increase from $84 million in 2021, according to the company’s latest 10-K filing.
